Attachment hygiene for screenshots
Crop to the signal, name files predictably, and avoid silent auto-upload folders that confuse reviewers.
Screenshots are evidence, not decoration. Crop to the smallest rectangle that still shows the defect and its immediate context. If the defect is a color contrast issue, include the surrounding text, not the entire desktop.
Name files with a predictable stem: build number, short slug, and index if you upload multiples. Future you will search faster, and developers will trust that you are not hiding random captures in a zip.
If your tracker auto-uploads from a desktop folder, pause before filing. Confirm you are not attaching draft images or personal notifications that slipped into the same directory. A single mistaken thumbnail can derail trust faster than a vague title.
When video helps, keep clips under twenty seconds unless a longer repro is unavoidable. State the start timestamp in the ticket body so reviewers can jump quickly.
