When you are new, it is tempting to pad bug titles with words like “weird,” “random,” or “seems broken.” Those adjectives rarely help a developer reproduce the issue. They also make triage slower because readers must guess which screen you meant.

Instead, anchor titles with a noun phrase: the surface, the action, and the unexpected outcome. “Checkout — card save toggle resets after refresh” beats “Checkout acting strange.” The second version sounds gentle but hides the behavior you actually saw.

If you are unsure whether something is a defect, say so in the body, not the title. Titles should describe what you observed; bodies can carry hypotheses, logs, and questions. This split keeps queues readable for everyone who is not sitting beside you.

Finally, read your ticket aloud once. If you run out of breath before finishing the title, shorten it. Clarity is kindness, especially for teammates reading on a phone between meetings.
